About the Journal

Who is this journal for?
This journal is for anyone. We all have a mom, or a mom-figure. This is for the person who wants to go deeper than everyday conversation allows — whether you're healing something old, celebrating something good, navigating a difficult season, or simply saying what you've never quite said out loud. It works beautifully for adults and their moms, but is also wonderful for teens and young adults.
How does the pass-back-and-forth format work?
One person starts — they write an entry, use a prompt for inspiration if they need it, note how they're feeling using the emotion table, then pass the journal to the other person. She reads, responds, and passes it back. There are no rules and no timeline. You go at your own pace, in your own way.
What's inside the journal?
The journal opens with a letter from founder Carrie and guidelines to help you begin. Inside you'll find an emotion table, hundreds of prompts organized by theme — connection, forgiveness, understanding, overwhelm, difficult times, celebration, and advice — 90 open-lined pages for free writing, and meaningful quotes from Maya Angelou, Oprah Winfrey, Mother Teresa, C.S. Lewis, and others.
What is Just Between Mom & Me?
Just Between Mom & Me is a guided pass-back-and-forth journal designed for a mother and her child — adult or young — to share with each other. One person starts by writing an entry, then passes it to the other to respond. Inside you'll find an emotion table, prompts organized by theme, and lined pages for writing. When the journal is full, you have a book of letters in each other's handwriting that you'll keep forever.
What size should I choose?
The small journal (6"x9") is our most popular size and the perfect place to start. It's easy to pass back and forth, fits in a bag, and feels approachable. The large journal (8.5"x11") offers more writing space per page for those who like to write at length. When in doubt, start small. Younger kids and older moms are fans of the bigger pages. Younger moms and older children tend to gravitate towards the portable, smaller size. Both journals are slim and sit around 100 pages for easy transport.
